Chumbivilcas province is one of the thirteen provinces in the department of Cuzco, Cuzco belonging to the region in the southern highlands of Peru.
Geography
The most important rivers in the area are the river and the river Velille St. Thomas, both tributaries of the river Apurimac.
Bounded on the north Chumbivilcas provinces Acomayo Paruro and, on the east by the provinces of Canas and Espinar, south to the region of Arequipa, and west, with the Apurimac region.
Political Division
Officially, Chumbivilcas province was founded on June 21, 1825. The province has an area of ??5371.08 square kilometers and its capital is the city of St. Thomas. Politically it is divided into eight districts:

-Colquemarca
-Livitaca
-Llusco
-Quinota
-Velille
Population
The province has a population of 77,721 inhabitants, more than half of whom are under 16 years. There are about 77 rural communities. While the language is Quechua population, the large number of urban migration has resulted in greater Spanish influence. By law, public schools teach classes bilingual children in the area.
