URUBAMBA PROVINCE

The Peruvian province of Urubamba is one of the thirteen that comprise the Department of Cuzco, under the administration of the regional government of Cusco. Bounded on the north and west by the province of La Convención, east with the province of Calca and south with the province of Cusco and the province of Anta.

History
He was one of the major agricultural centers of the Inca Empire. In the city, adjacent to the monumental church of San Francisco, are the massive walls of Inca terraces can still admire. You can also see some pre-Hispanic walls, which formed the foundation and basis for colonial buildings.
Politically the Urubamba Province was created by Decree of Government of June 21, 1825, and in November 1839 stipulated that the town of Urubamba is raised to the status of "Meritorious Urubamba City" when he was president of the Republic Field Marshal Agustín Gamarra Cusco. In addition, the Law 14 135 June 18, 1962, was called "Province Archaeology of Peru" in recognition of his great architectural complexes.

Geography
The beautiful province of Urubamba is located northwest of the province of Cusco which borders the provinces of La Convención, Anta and Calca.
It is crossed by the river Vilcanota, which upon entering this area takes its name from Urubamba. The incas, experts on land, they chose this fertile valley to establish their main settlements, which is why the Urubamba province comprises the districts where the main architectural monuments of the Incas, Urubamba, Ollantaytambo, Chinchero, Huayllabamba , Machu Picchu, Maras and Yucay.
The Urubamba Valley is one of the most productive in the country, here is the best corn crop in the world and abundant rains own fruits of the valley, peach, cherry tree, quince, strawberry premium.

The province has a population of 57,059 inhabitants.

Capital
The capital of the province is the town of Urubamba, considered as the Paradise Bible the great eighteenth-century naturalist Antonio de Leon Pinelo, is today one of the most beautiful in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. It is located 57 km. northwest of the city of Cusco via Chinchero. It lies at the 2 875 meters high, on a beautiful plain in the valley that separates the central Cordillera of the Andes, the Cordillera Urubamba, on the right bank of the river of the same name.
This city has a perfect climate all year round and has a beautiful landscape with a panoramic view of the valley and the towering peaks of the Cordillera Vilcanota. It is a great place to practice adventure tourism: trekking, rafting, mountain biking and horseback riding interesting. Urubamba currently enjoys a significant commercial activity due to its strategic location in the Cusco region, where local investors, foreign and domestic have been investing in different areas thus bringing prosperity and development to this beautiful city.
