The ancient name of Tipon, or at least the area from which the sanctuary is Quispicanchis. And was still retains the name of a large and densely populated which occupies 40 hectares of hillside west of the complex Tipón platforms. The irregular layout of the settlement indicates that it was built by the Incas, but some of the conquered peoples.
