Like many cities in the world and Peru, Cuzco has formally established three symbols, flag, coat of arms and anthem. The use of such symbols is especially true in the month of June since June 24, the day commemorating the Inca festival of Inti Raymi, the day is also celebrated in the city.
Regarding the Shield, there is currently a duplication of symbols and that although the city has the Carlist shield over 450 years old, in recent years, the Provincial Municipality of Cusco has preferred to use as a shield Echenique Sun Cuzco because their characteristics relate to the Inca past most of the city's colonial past. This shield is used as a security seal for New Sol notes in circulation today.
